Whakanuia te tau hou Māori!
Celebrate the Māori new year in Tāmaki Makaurau with Matariki Festival.
Herald the Māori new year by celebrating te ao Māori through stories, film, entertainment, discussions, performance, food and art. The festival aims to create an environment where communities can come together to reflect on and recognise this special time of year, the season of Matariki.
Tangata Whenua Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, the festival’s partner in 2023, and Auckland Council invite you to join us at some of our 90 events and activities as we celebrate the Matariki season and the public holiday on Friday 14 July – Mānawatia a Matariki!
