Join us at Cable Bay on the edge of the Horoirangi marine reserve for our EMR (Experiencing Marine Reserves) community guided snorkel day. This is hosted by Tasman Bay Guardians with support from Port Nelson, Sealords and the Department of Conservation (DOC). Register for your chosen time slot for this free event. Be quick to get in as it usually gets fully booked.
On arrival at the beach, sign in at the registration tent. Please do not arrive before your scheduled time slot.
You will be introduced to your friendly snorkel guide who will help kit you out with a wetsuit, fins, snorkel and masks, boogie board and fish ID chart for your group . You’ll have a safety briefing before you try out your gear in the shallows and explore the water together for about 30 minutes. Keep an eye out for blue cod, spotties, triple fins, wandering anemones, eagle rays and seahorses.
All equipment provided, no experience required. Ages 5+. FREE (donations welcome- towards future events, school deliveries and restoration projects).
You can bring your own equipment if you wish, however make sure that it is fit for purpose and functional.
PLEASE NOTE: You need to pre-register for this event online (unlike previous years).
