Riverside Adventures

Minutes from Cambridge yet a world of its own, our spot along the Waikato River is surrounded by lush bush and overlooked by the magnificent Maungatautari.

At Riverside Adventures we want you to savour the beauty of our picturesque backyard. Our guided tours are designed to take you on a physical and spiritual journey as you explore the Waikato with us.

With a new location now at the Grassroots Velodrome, the options for bike hire and packages are endless.

Our kayak, bike and walking tours cater for families, couples, groups and schools and can be as gentle or active as you choose.

Daylight, twilight or overnight – you can select from one of our existing tours or work with us to plan your own.

Take a guided kayak tour down the Waikato River by day or experience the magic of New Zealand glow worms at twilight. Calm water to suit all abilities.

Whether you’re looking for a day tour or a multi-day adventure, experience the Waikato River Trails, Hauraki Rail Trail or the Timber Trail with us.

This escape provides a taste of local experiences in the Waikato, with a luxury overnight stay. Unwind and discover the magical Waikato and let our natural surroundings do what they do best; be an antidote to stress.

Starting late afternoon or early evening, enjoy spectacular sights you can only experience by kayak. Paddle slowly through the Pokaiwhenua canyon and, when darkness falls, be guided by the magical titiwai – New Zealand glow worms – on either side.

With our base right on the doorstep of the trails, we can help you plan your day riding, provide the bike or e-bike and helmets, get you there and even provide a local guide. Our guides let you know what’s coming up, sharing their knowledge and history of the area as you soak in the surroundings of this extremely popular section of trail. This journey takes you from the historic hydro village of Arapuni, through wetlands and farmland, with beautiful river vistas along the way ending up at the Pokaiwhenua Bridge car park.

From lake and river to waterfalls, along bridges and elevated boardwalks, the Te Awa River Ride showcases parts of the Waikato that have never before been seen – a world-class recreation experience for the whole family and right on our backdoor step.

Join us on an awesome adventure taking on one of New Zealand’s iconic cycle trails! Come and see what the Waikato region has to offer, from the Firth of Thames to historic mining towns and lush farmland.
