Escape HQ Takapuna

Screen-Free Adventure in the Heart of Takapuna

Escape HQ is a purpose-built escape-room venue on Lake Road, in the heart of Takapuna on Auckland’s North Shore. Your whole family gets locked into a themed adventure with 60 minutes to crack the puzzles and escape together. With four live-action games — including an outdoor street game played across Takapuna itself — plus a licensed lounge and party room, it’s hands-on, screen-free fun the kids and grown-ups tackle side by side.

Why Escape HQ is a Family Favourite

  • Everyone plays together: No sitting on the sidelines watching a screen — kids and adults solve the same clues side by side.
  • Four 60-minute games: Short enough to suit shorter attention spans, with a game to match your group and ability. Three are indoor rooms — Mountain Blizzard (a twin-room race for up to 16 players), Jail Break, and Backstage Pass.
  • Outdoor option: Fugitive Hunt takes older kids outdoors on a chase through Takapuna’s streets — ideal for active kids who don’t want to sit still.
  • A licensed lounge: With a board-games area, it keeps everyone together once the timer stops.
  • Built for celebrations: A private party room, BYO and catering welcome, and you can even have Hell Pizza delivered. Popular for kids’ birthday parties and corporate team-building.
  • Open seven days: Fits easily around school and weekend schedules.

2026 Pricing (NZD)

Escape rooms are priced per team, not per person, so one adult voucher can cover a child or a student — handy for mixed-age groups. As your team grows, the cost per head drops:

  • Teams of 2–4: around $42 per person
  • Teams of 5–8: around $38 per person
  • Worked examples: a team of four pays $168 total; a team of six pays $228 total
  • Kids’ birthday parties: from $30 per child, including goodie bags, themed invitations and dress-up props (a supervising adult joins the game free)
  • Corporate & team-building: from $38 per person
  • Exclusive venue hire (up to 50 people): priced on application

Booking online ahead of time is the easiest way to lock in your slot.
