Escapade NZ

Escapade NZ

Escapade NZ is one of Auckland’s most popular destinations for escape rooms, outdoor puzzle adventures, and online games. It has five indoor rooms, outdoor challenges and several online options. The games are designed with a distinctly Kiwi style, but you won’t need any local knowledge to take part—everything you need is inside the game.

Escape Room Auckland

Escapade NZ provides a varied mix of themed rooms, built for 2–6 players and are designed to be equally challenging.

Popular Rooms

The Bach

A classic Kiwiana beach house packed with clues and quirky details. It’s recommended for first-time players and is also available as a live video escape room.

Galactic Cantina

A sci-fi themed adventure involving bounty hunters, locked hangars, and a frantic dash to freedom. This room includes lighting effects, so it’s worth checking with staff if this may affect anyone in your group.

The Tavern

Set in a mystical medieval-style tavern, this room challenges you to protect a city from approaching darkness by solving ancient puzzles.

Old School 1 and 2

These two rooms offer the same theme and layout, allowing groups to book both at once and compete head-to-head. Expect retro touches, school-style clues and a race to “beat the bell”.

The Endeavour

A pirate-themed mission involving Captain Cook’s hidden treasures. You’ll need to search the ship and uncover secrets before the crew returns.

Who Can Play?

Most rooms suit adults and children aged 10 and older, though children 15 and under must be accompanied by an adult inside the room. Escapade NZ is not designed to be frightening—there are no jump scares, zombies or sudden surprises—so it’s suitable for families looking for a fun challenge.

Pricing and Opening Hours

Prices vary depending on group size, with lower per-person rates for larger teams. Family packages are also available for groups of two adults and up to four children. Car parking is convenient, with the Victoria St car park located directly opposite the venue.

Escapade NZ operates seven days a week, with extended evening hours from Tuesday to Saturday. Because the venue is often busy, booking online is strongly recommended.

How long does an Escape Room take

At Escapade NZ, each escape room session has a maximum game time of 60 minutes. Players are asked to arrive around 10 minutes earlier for a briefing, making the overall experience roughly 70 minutes from start to finish.

Outdoor adventure games take about 90 minutes, while online escape rooms vary in length depending on the pace of your group.

Escapade NZ keeps all rooms at the same difficulty level, but teams are ranked based on how many hints they use. Groups that escape with three or fewer hints are classed as “Sherlock”, while those using four or more are “Watson”. It’s a simple and light-hearted way to compare performance without adding pressure.

Other Ways to Play- WOW!!!! Check this out!

If you prefer being outdoors, Escapade’s adventure games send you around Auckland’s parks and alleyways, solving clues in a real-world setting. The main outdoor game, What Lies Beneath?, takes around 90 minutes and suits a wide age range.

For at-home entertainment, the online escape rooms such as Nova, The Rise of the Mad Pharaoh and The Navigators and the Call from Beyond allow up to five players to team up remotely, complete with built-in video chat.

Hosted online team-building sessions and live video escape rooms are also available for workplace events or groups spread across different locations.
