Bluebridge Cook Strait Ferries provide a comfortable way to travel between New Zealand’s North and South Islands. Visitors can also hire Crocodile bikes to cycle along the waterfront or enjoy a stroll along Oriental Bay. Dining options nearby include casual cafes and local eateries.

Arriving in Picton, travellers are greeted by the scenic Picton waterfront, a compact area with plenty to see and do. The Picton iSite, located near the ferry drop-off, provides visitor information and access to shuttle services for excursions. Attractions in the area include the Edwin Fox Maritime Museum, Picton Heritage & Whaling Museum, and the model railway. Visitors can enjoy the beaches, playgrounds, mini-golf, or simply relax while admiring the harbour views. For dining, the waterfront hosts several excellent cafes and restaurants, including Toastie Lords for toasted sandwiches, Oxleys for fresh seafood, and Scoozi for wood-fired pizzas. Ferry Wellington to Picton

Bluebridge operates multiple daily sailings between Wellington and Picton, with times starting as early as 2:00am and extending to 8:30pm. The journey across the Cook Strait typically takes about three hours, depending on weather conditions. Passengers can choose from standard seating, private cabins, or premium lounges. Vehicle transport is also available, allowing travellers to bring cars, motorbikes, or larger freight. Onboard amenities include a movie lounge, family room, café, bar, and outdoor decks for enjoying the views of the strait. Bluebridge’s fleet includes modern ferries such as the Connemara and Livia, both accommodating up to 500 passengers and offering dog-friendly cabins.
