DESCRIPTION:Travel back in time on our Dinosaur Discovery Track to experience some of the awe-inspiring creatures that lived up to 250 million years ago and learn about their connections with animals we care for here at the Zoo today and are helping to conserve in the wild. \nThis immersive educational experience in the Zoo’s former elephant habitat features 25 large-scale animatronic dinosaurs made by world-leading dinosaur creators\, The Dinosaur Company. \nThese spectacular replicas move and roar (some even spit water!) and represent the rich diversity of life from our planet’s intriguing Triassic\, Jurassic\, and Cretaceous periods of the Mesozoic Era between 252 – 66 million years ago! \n“Although most dinosaurs went extinct the best part of 65 million years before the first humans evolved\, they nevertheless have this incredible ability to intrigue and fascinate us about animals and epic wildlife. DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Matariki 2025\, the nation’s woollen wharenui returns to her place of origin — Tāmaki Makaurau. Wharenui Harikoa\, the world’s first crocheted wharenui\, opens at The Civic in Auckland from 5 – 27 July – marking a powerful act of homecoming and aroha. Returning to her place of conception\, creation and cultural roots is somewhat of an offering and a final gift to Aotearoa before she begins her international journey. \nCreated by artists Lissy (Ngāti Hine\, Ngāti Kahu) and Rudi Robinson-Cole (Taranaki\, Ngāti Pāoa\, Waikato\, Ngāti Tahu/Ngāti Whaoa)\, the wharenui was born from a vision gifted in 2018. Crocheted with vibrant neon wool\, it merges traditional Māori practices with modern technology\, bringing joy\, colour and connection to Aotearoa. \n“This whare is aroha made physical\,” says Lissy Cole. “Stepping inside feels like entering the embrace of your kuia. It’s a deeply maternal\, deeply Māori experience rooted in aroha.” \nPresented by Auckland Live in collaboration with Lissy and Rudi\, Wharenui Harikoa is a fully immersive\, multi-sensory experience. Visitors are welcomed by karanga\, drawn into the heart of the whare via a shifting soundscape created with taonga pūoro artist Libby Gray (Ngāti Rēhia\, Ngāti Uepōhatu\, Tama Ūpoko Ki Te Awa o Wanganui Me Ngāti Tūwharetoa anō Hoki) and musician Rewi McClay (Ngati Hine\, Ngati Kahu). Lighting transitions from warm tones to pulses of fluro\, guiding guests from the physical into the wairua realm. \nEvery detail is intentional – each colour in the whare is described and given a te reo Māori name and vibration that supports visual and audio accessibility. The experience invites stillness\, dreaming and reflection. The whare welcomes all visitors\, children and kaumātua to experience the aroha of Wharenui Harikoa. \nCost\nFree \nEntry is free with a ticket and donations are welcomed to support more free and low-cost events presented by Auckland Live in Tāmaki Makaurau.

DESCRIPTION:Rainbow’s End enchanting Winter Lights are back and more magical than ever this winter! \nWinter Lights at Rainbow’s End transforms the park into a dazzling winter wonderland. Step into a magical world\, with all your favourite rides plus over 40 kilometres of sparkling lights winding through Gold Rush Town\, the Log Flume Enchanted Forest\, and the majestic Kidz Kingdom Castle.  \nBe sure to check out the Deep Dive Dodgems\, an immersive driving experience on the ocean floor! \nHow do you experience the magic?\nEnjoy all of the magic of Winter Lights with a Twilight Rides or Night Rides Pass! \nNight Rides  \nOur 6PM-11PM Saturday evening session\, suited for ages 12+ \n\nKidz Kingdom is closed for our Night Ride sessions. \nSaturday 19th July\nSaturday 26th July\nSaturday 2nd August\nSaturday 16th August \nTwilight Rides \nOur 5PM-9PM family-friendly sessions have now ended for 2025. \nYou can still enjoy Winter Lights with Night Rides\, suitable for ages 12+ on selected Saturday evenings. \nENTERTAINMENT \nAs well as thousands of fairy lights\, check out some special Winter Lights entertainment during our sessions! \nNight Rides  \ndj fr3quency – 6PM – 11PM \nOur resident DJ will be spinning some tunes on Centre Stage during Night Rides! \nWINTER FAIRIES – 5:45PM – 8:45PM \nSay hello to our magical Winter Fairies who will be glowing throughout the park on Night Rides! DESCRIPTION:For easy family fun look no further than Heritage Park\, at Kiwi North. Located on 25 hectares of rolling farmland\, forest and bush in Maunu\, with views overlooking Whangārei\, Heritage Park is always free for the public to enjoy. On the third Sunday of the month the park also comes alive for ‘Train Day’\, a much-loved community event. \nCatch a ride on a steam train\, rumble through the bush on a tram\, jump on a jigger\, whizz around the miniature train track\, or enjoy a nostalgic hayride across the open paddocks. At only $2.50 per ride\, locals know that ‘old school fun’ is a recipe for success\, and for those further afield\, Heritage Park is the ultimate ‘Sunday drive’ destination. \nTrains run 10am -2pm and tickets for the rides are purchased directly from the train stations at Heritage Park. Free parking is available at the Kiwi North Gate 1 and Gate 2 entrances\, 500 State Highway 14\, Maunu\, Whangārei. Kiwi North is open 7 Days from 10am to 4pm. www.kiwinorth.co.nz
