DESCRIPTION:Travel back in time on our Dinosaur Discovery Track to experience some of the awe-inspiring creatures that lived up to 250 million years ago and learn about their connections with animals we care for here at the Zoo today and are helping to conserve in the wild. \nThis immersive educational experience in the Zoo’s former elephant habitat features 25 large-scale animatronic dinosaurs made by world-leading dinosaur creators\, The Dinosaur Company. \nThese spectacular replicas move and roar (some even spit water!) and represent the rich diversity of life from our planet’s intriguing Triassic\, Jurassic\, and Cretaceous periods of the Mesozoic Era between 252 – 66 million years ago! \n“Although most dinosaurs went extinct the best part of 65 million years before the first humans evolved\, they nevertheless have this incredible ability to intrigue and fascinate us about animals and epic wildlife. By transforming this iconic symbol into a monumental spectacle\, the public is invited to undertake a wondrous and expansive journey of extraordinary proportions. \nEach chess piece draws inspiration from the 20th Century Bauhaus movement\, a pivotal era where art and design converged\, shaping modern aesthetics. This artwork reverently pays homage to Bauhaus’s historical impact\, celebrating its fusion of creativity and functionality.

DESCRIPTION:Te Moana Glow Show\, a stunning glow-in-the-dark theatre experience\, is showing exclusively at Kōmanawa Theatre\, part of the Te Puna Creative Hub  (formerly know as Whoa Studios) in Henderson. \nBring your tamariki\, whānau\, and friends for this epic storytelling experience\, loved by kids all around Aotearoa and reimagined since its last outing in 2020. \nSet beneath the waves of takutai moana and the mighty Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa\, this uplifting story follows Kina\, a loveable sea urchin who has lost her memory and her way. \nAs Kina journeys through the Pacific\, she meets a hilarious and curious crew of glowing sea creatures – including dancing crabs\, beautiful manta rays\, jiving clams\, and the grand Pacific Queen – all brought to life by more than 40 extraordinary\, handcrafted puppets. \nGuided by the wisdom of the ocean Kina embarks on a journey of self-discovery to find her family\, her true identity\, and her inner strength. With the help of a kindly octopus and a little moana magic\, she is reimagined as a radiant pearl. \nHe waka eke noa /we are all in this together is the guiding whakataukī of the show\, with heartfelt themes of resilience\, kindness\, and the beauty within. \nTwo shows each day:  10:00 am to 10:45am and  11:30am to 12:45pm.
