Hamilton Zoo

Hamilton Zoo has been delighting families in the Waikato since 1969.  Located northwest of Hamilton, it is surrounded by lush green fields – a great location to house all manner of animals big and small.
This well established Zoo is home to over 600 animals across the key species.  Mammals, Reptiles, Amphbians and Birds.  You’ll encounter animals native to New Zealand such as the Tuatara, to exotic animals such as the Sumatran Tiger, White Rhino and of course Monkeys.  There is also a free flight aviary to watch the resident bird population. “Meet the Keeper” sessions run daily and will leave the kids enthralled with trivia, and for those animal lovers who are eager for a close – up encounter, Face 2 Face tours are a unique behind the scenes experiences where you can learn  more about the zoo’s incredible creatures.
There’s a lot to see; if you need a break, swing by the on-site cafe and check out the delicious treats, or dine al fresco in one of our scenic picnic areas.Besides being a tourism and recreation park, Hamilton Zoo has committed to the conservation of animals and the environment by participating in various conservation and research projects, and by contributing to breeding programmes for endangered species.Open 9:30AM-4:40PM DAILY
